Kelli's Story

Years ago, I discovered my mother’s old photo albums hidden in a metal military trunk in her shed. They were moldy, stuck to deteriorating album pages, and crumbling with every turn. I spent weeks carefully trying to release them. Some photos tore, some were lost to mold. Desperate to save what I could, I used an HP all-in-one printer to scan them without knowing about resolution, metadata, or proper techniques. The result was a digital mess that mirrored the chaos of the originals.
Later, while researching my family genealogy, I connected with cousins who shared photos of my great-grandparents, people I had never met. Again, I added them to the same disorganized pile.
Everything changed in 2023 when I began working with a Photo Manager to digitize a large collection. That experience opened my eyes to everything I had done wrong and everything I could do right. I joined The Photo Managers Association immediately and began my journey of learning proper preservation methods. For the past two years, I’ve trained in photo organizing, high-resolution scanning, metadata tagging, and archiving best practices. I now know how to preserve collections, so families never have to repeat my early mistakes.
These lessons are deeply personal. A fire once destroyed most of my mom’s childhood photos and even took my grandfather’s life. The few images I rescued became priceless heirlooms. That loss drives my mission today: to help families save their photos, slides, negatives, videos, and keepsakes before it’s too late.

Your children don’t want to inherit a box of unknown faces. They want stories, your stories, preserved in a way they can connect with, cherish, and pass down. That’s the heart of my work: transforming fragile, scattered memories into safe, meaningful archives that last for generations.
